DescriptionThe Executive Director will contribute to the planning and implementation of Foundation activities to maximize private sector support; formulate and implement strategies for raising major gifts ($25,000+) through implementation of a Grateful Patient/Guest Relations Program; and work collaboratively with the Regional Foundation Office for CHRISTUS Health and other members of the regional office team to identify and evaluate specific prospective donors for cultivation and major gift solicitation. The Executive Director will report directly to the VP Philanthropy -- Northeast Texas, Louisiana & Southeast Texas for CHRISTUS Health and work closely with the CGSHS ministry CEO in Longview and the Administrator of CGS-Marshall. The Executive Director will manage relationships with approximately 100 prospective donors and steward those relationships for the foundations in Longview and Marshall.Duties/Responsibilities:LeadershipProvides leadership and vision to establish and maintain both short and long range goals for cultivation, stewardship, annual and capital fundraising, and planned giving that will increase the culture of philanthropy across all constituencies (including Associates) of CGSHS.Collaborate closely with the CGSHS leadership team including participation in the planning, coordinating, decision-making, problem solving and evaluation of fundraising initiatives.Coordinates closely with Regional Office team to analyze, review and revise office procedures and policies as necessary.Assures volunteers' and donors' needs are met promptly and professionally with great attention to follow-up.Ensure department is positioned to provide the most accurate information to hospital boards and Foundation Boards related to fundraising projects and goals.Collaboration and coordination with the board members of both the Longview and Marshall foundations -- scheduling regular quarterly meetings, developing and recommending policies for approval by each board, and communicating ongoing activities and outcomes for each board -- including activation and engagement of necessary board committees. Serves as ex-officio non-voting member on both boards.In collaboration with the Chair(s) of the Longview and Marshall Foundation Boards, design meetings that are meaningful and goal-oriented. Oversight of meeting objectives, agendas, presentation materials, etc., to ensure expected meeting outcomes.Attends and participates in all appropriate meetings of the Foundation Boards of Longview and Marshall and active board committees.Establishes targeted financial goal in harmony with each Foundation Board and the VP of Philanthropy in alignment with health system goals and priorities.FundraisingDevelop a well-rounded Foundation program consisting of the best-practice components of annual giving, foundation/corporation giving (private philanthropic grants), special events, major gifts and planned gifts.Responsible for planning, coordination and promotion of fundraising special events and fund drives and major gift initiatives/campaigns.Builds relationships with donors and potential donors.Coordinates with Regional Foundation Office on prospect research, portfolio assimilation and Moves Management progress related to identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of all major gift donors -- including corporate and Foundation donors.Attend appropriate meetings with Regional Foundation Office team.Coordinate with key ministry leaders and VP Philanthropy to identify funding initiatives in alignment with the health system's strategic plan.Coordinate comprehensive capital campaigns by recommending major prospect strategies and timelines based on needs and goals of clinical areas of excellence and designated service lines and bricks and mortar projects.Oversight of donor acquisition mailings (direct mail) in collaboration with Regional Foundation Office.Maintain membership in appropriate philanthropic associations (AHP) with intent to increase knowledge and expertise in all aspects of best-practice based major gift fundraising.Maintain a high degree of motivation and superior work ethic consistent with the employment philosophy of CHRISTUS Health and CGSHS.Financial and Policy AccountabilityAlign Foundation policies with Northeast Texas foundations through the Regional Foundation Office.Oversight of maintenance of the Foundation's financial records and required monthly/annual reports in close collaboration with Regional Foundation Office.Oversight of process for maintaining of financial & donor records for Foundation in collaboration with Regional Foundation Office.Prepares the Foundation's annual operating budget in collaboration with VP Philanthropy.Administers the Foundation budget throughout the year to ensure compliance.Supervises the deposits and is in alignment with Gift Acceptance Processes and Procedures outlined by the Regional Foundation Office involving recording and acknowledgment of all gifts received.Maintains highest level of confidentiality related to all donations and assurance that funds are administered according to donor wishes.Positive and Effective ImageSupports the mission, vision and culture of CHRISTUS Health.Represents both foundations and CGSHS in the community by participating professionally and actively in civic, professional and service organizations, maintaining a heightened awareness to build close collaborations with other community non-profits to help insure that the role and mission of CGSHS are understood and supported by all community leaders.Serves as a public speaker for meetings, host groups and individuals, to educate them on activities and issues related to CGSHS, the foundations and the greater health care needs of the community and region.Actively participate in hospital sponsored events. Serves as representative for hospital and community activities/special events at Auxiliary Board Meetings and other community events.Maintains consistency with Administrative and Departmental policies with appropriate behavior, dress, attitude, attendance, confidentiality, professionalism, and reliability.Gives direction for all printed materials including newsletters and brochures in coordination with local ministry Marketing.RequirementsQUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor's degree required, preferably in Business, Marketing or related field.Minimum of 5 years of increasingly responsible positions in development, with a preference for healthcare experience.Minimum of 2 years' experience grant writing and minimum of 5 years' experience in major gift fundraising.CFRE Certification preferred.Commitment to embrace the mission, vision and core values of CHRISTUS Health and CHRISTUS Good Shepherd Health SystemKnowledge of and demonstrated success with all aspects of philanthropy: major gifts, grateful patient giving, capital campaign, planned giving, annual giving, special events, constituent engagement, strategic goal-setting and departmental management.Proven track record in cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major and planned gifts.Strong organizational skills and a strong expertise in planning and supervising.Ability to be flexible and empathetic while remaining focused on accountability and outcomes.A high degree of professionalism, sound judgment, awareness, and discretion while maintaining complete confidentiality.Strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to build, foster and maintain positive relationships with both internal and external constituencies including physicians, administrators, staff, Board members, volunteer leaders, donors and prospects.Excellent public speaking skills complemented by a demonstrated ability to interact in a social setting with ease and grace among individuals from a variety of diverse backgrounds and professions.Strong listening and superior communication skills to express, orally and in writing CGSHS's mission, vision and goals with clarity, passion and persuasion.Some regional travel required with willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed.
