Highly motivated to instill and maintain a culture of safety awareness in all team members throughout the organization.-- Must have a passion to consult with and coach team members in effective ways to work safe and protect all team members.-- Responsibilities include training and program assistance for all safety, health, and environmental activities to ensure compliance with company, state and federal environmental health and safety policies and regulations.-- Conduct and document safety inspections, maintain safety training records, consult with team members to identify unsafe conditions, acts and procedures, as well as recommend corrective actions, and maintain safety equipment supply and availability. The Safety and Environmental Manager will have expert knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within this particular field of environmental health and safety. Principal Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential)1.Works under the direction of the General Manager.*2.Provide technical and regulatory expertise to ensure occupational health, safety and environmental compliance at the site location.*3.Inspect and evaluate work place environments, equipment, and practices to meet site safety standards.*4.Provide leadership for the site concerning the site safety culture with contractors working on site.*5.Provide strategic leadership and work with management on identified EHS issues/recommendations/opportunities to foster continuous improvement of EHS culture and performance.*6.Review and implement standardized EHS policies and procedures, including but not limited to Safe Work Permits, Job Safety Analysis, Management of Change, Incident/Accident investigation, ergonomics, HAZCOM.*7.Provide support for the safety and industrial hygiene programs.-- These activities involve facilitating EHS meetings and JSA reviews.*8.Lead investigations of accidents, incidents, and near misses to identify causes and to determine how to prevent reoccurrence.-- Compiles and completes all MSHA required reports.*9.Initiate workers' compensation reports and manage claims through claim closure.*10.Participate in capital project reviews consistent with the level of environmental, industrial hygiene and safety expertise needed.*11.Support emergency response activities through the development of required drills and coordination of annual training.*12.Contribute and support the Exposure Reduction Process (ERP) within your assigned area of responsibility.*13.Maintain and monitor environmental compliance programs for the site while optimizing effectiveness and efficiency of the programs.*14.Maintain and update primarily air, water and environmental permits while providing support with all waste programs.*15.Submit various agency and internal environmental reports.*16.Promotes safety awareness with all team members.*17.Develop new employee training programs for safety and environmental requirements.*18.Conducts unsafe act tours, OSHA compliance inspections and company policy/procedure inspections on the manufacturing floor.*19Coaches/instructs supervision and management in best practices to eliminate hazards in the workplace by engaging all team membes.*20.Maintains safety training records.-- Ensure all team members are current on required safety training.*21.Maintains current training certifications on all industrial equipment, (forklifts, pallet jacks, scissor lifts, etc).*22.Tracks corrective actions for all accident and incidents by keeping an action registry up to date.*23.Manage and develop direct reports.* Special Location/Position Requirements: Job Specifications (Work Experience, Skills, Abilities, etc.) ---Occupational Safety/Industrial Hygiene experience preferred---Environmental and safety regulatory and technical expertise---Excellent written and verbal communication skills---Ability to interact with state and federal regulatory agencies---Must be a self-starter and demonstrates strong sense of initiative; ability to work independently with minimal supervision; strong computer skills (MS-Word, Excel, PowerPoint)---Credentials preferred - CSP, ASP or SMS Education Requirements:Bachelor's degree plus 10+ years of demonstrated EHS experience in a manufacturing environment or equivalent experience Physical / Environmental Conditions: Office with Moderate Shop exposureNormal office conditions.-- Office located in a two-story office building.-- Job demands may require long periods of sitting, telephone work and/or computer work, as well as interaction with other people.-- Normal office conditions include walking, standing, bending, kneeling, climbing stairs, lifting, driving and/or traveling. Moderate exposure to shop conditions, which are variable depending on the task assigned, but are generally dirty.-- Is subject to shop noise.-- Involves extensive standing and walking.-- Skin and eyes are subject to drying and irritating fumes, vapors and solutions controlled to OSHA standards. Works both in and out of doors, normally indoors, with sometimes dusty or confining work areas when in the shop/lab.
