ShiftOvernightDescriptionSUMMARY:The role of the Certified Nursing
Assistant is to provide direct patient care and timely communicate
the same, under the supervision of the Registered Nurse, House
Supervisor and/or other clinical staff in accordance with hospital
policy. This may include assisting patients with Activities of
Daily Living (ADL's), bathing, toileting, eating, ambulating and
the taking of and recording of specific diagnostic equipment such
as blood pressure machines, blood sugar devices, etc. - under the
direction of a licensed Registered Nurse. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND
RESPONSIBILITIES: May include, but is not limited to the
following:Job Specific:Provides patients' personal hygiene by
giving bedpans, urinals, baths, backrubs, shampoos, and shaves;
assisting with travel to the bathroom; helping with showers and
baths.Provides for activities of daily living by assisting with
serving meals, feeding patients as necessary; ambulating, turning,
and positioning patients; providing fresh water and nourishment
between meals.Maintains patient stability by checking vital signs
and weight; recording intake and output information.Provides
patient comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting
patients; answering patients' call lights and requests; reporting
observations of the patient to assigned nurse.Documents actions by
completing forms, reports, logs, and records.Maintains work
operations by following policies and procedures.Protects
organization's value by keeping patient information
confidential.Serves and protects the hospital community by adhering
to professional standards, hospital policies and procedures,
federal, state, and local requirements, and CIHQ standards.Updates
job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities;
reading professional publications; participating in professional
organizations; maintaining certifications.Enhances nursing
department and hospital reputation by accepting ownership for
accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities
to add value to job accomplishments.Job Function:Provides patients'

logs, and records.QualificationsEducationHigh School diploma or
G.E.D. License/CertificationCertified Nursing Assistant in the
state of practice and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
through the American Heart Association. Certifications must be
maintained throughout employment.ExperiencePrevious experience in a
healthcare setting perferred.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:N/A OTHER
REQUIREMENTS:Participates in or conducts company-wide sponsored
training to safeguard against improper use and disclosure of
patient's protected health information. Monitors and ensures
compliance with company policies, procedures, state and federal
regulations and Accreditation Standards.Company Specific:Adheres to
dress code, appearance is neat and clean and wears appropriate
identification while on duty.Adheres to all smoking or tobacco
regulations established by corporate building owners, state, or
federal laws.Completes annual health, safety, and education
requirements. Maintains professional growth and
development.Maintains confidentiality of all patient and/or
employee information to assure patient and/or employee rights are
protected.Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and
development and the skills necessary to provide age appropriate
care to the patient population served.Reports to work on time as
scheduled; adheres to policies regarding notification of
absence.Attends all mandatory in-services and staff
meetings.Represents the organization in a positive and professional
manner.Complies with all organizational policies regarding ethical
business practices.Communicates the mission, ethics, and goals of
the hospital, as well as the focus statement of the department.
Maintains current licensure/certification for position, if
applicable. Consistently demonstrates superior customer service to
patients, physicians, visitors, employees, and any other
individuals with whom they may come in contact.Consistently follows
departmental and hospital Health, Safety, Security, Hazardous
Materials policies and procedures.HIPAA: Conduct job
responsibilities in accordance with HIPAA privacy laws, follow
hospital policy in provision of patient confidentiality. Able to
identify patient confidentiality issues and reports to proper
hospital personnel immediately.Compliance: Conducts job
responsibilities in accordance with standards set forth in Code of
Conduct, policy and procedures, applicable federal and state laws,
