RN- Perioperative Surgical HomeJob DescriptionSUMMARY:Under general supervision, Perioperative Nurses deliver care to patients utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation, and evaluation, in accordance with established philosophy. Nurses collaborate with other professional disciplines to ensure effective patient care delivery and achievement of desired patient outcomes during the entire Perioperative process. Nurses effectively interact with patients and family, while maintaining the standard of professional nursing. Must be well-versed in a large variety of health conditions and surgical procedures. No on-call requirements.ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Ensure pre-operative care requirements of patients are accomplished through use of the nursing process including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation
• Lead the collaboration of all disciplines for well-coordinated patient care prior to admission and procedure/surgery.
• Plans, provides, evaluates, and documents nursing care, discharge planning and teaching.
• Educates patients, family or others to attain optimal health and continuity of care.
• Obtain and/or coordinate pre-admission diagnostic testing (EKGs, Labs, CXR, etc.), and analyze pertinent data, communicate findings, and documents information accurately.
• Knows/conforms to the Texas Nursing Practice Act and the Board's rules and regulations as well as all Federal, State or local laws, rules or regulations.
• Provide, without discrimination, nursing services regardless of age, disability, economic status, gender, national origin, race, religion, or health problems of the patient's service.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Maintain composure during stressful situations.
• OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens Class I.RequirementsEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • 2+ years of surgical/procedural nursing experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with EPIC preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish a plus.LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS:
    • Registered Nurse currently licensed to practice in the State of Texas.
    • BLS and ACLSSKILLS:
      • Must demonstrate consistent professional conduct and meticulous attention to detail.
      • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as interpersonal skills with patients, staff, and other healthcare professionals.
