Job Summary:We are seeking a skilled Licensed Vocational Nurse to join our team at CHRISTUS Health. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with our providers to ensure the best possible outcomes.Key Responsibilities:

• Provide professional nursing care to patients, including administering treatments and medications as prescribed by providers.
• Assist with the preparation of equipment and aid providers during treatment, examination, and testing of patients.
• Observe, record, and report patients' condition and reaction to drugs or treatments to providers.
• Oversee appointment bookings and ensure timely flow of patients.
• Greets patients, obtains well-documented history and vitals, and prepares patients for physical exam.
• May perform various tasks, including obtaining/record vital signs, performing initial assessment, coordinating patient transfer, giving telephone orders, and accepting test results.
• May administer IV push medications and/or add medications to IV under direct supervision of licensed practitioner.
• May make arrangements for patient testing and admissions.
• May be required to have a working knowledge of ICD9, CPT, and HCPCS coding and managed care.
• Responds to incoming telephone calls and calls in refills and prescriptions to pharmacy.
• Documents patient care plans, orders, and prepares patient charts.
• Maintains patient files, records, and other information in a professional manner.
• Ensures preparation of exam rooms and re-stocks treatment areas.
• Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
• Participates in professional development activities and maintains professional licensure and affiliations.
• Follows CHRISTUS Health guidelines related to HIPAA and maintains strict confidentiality.
• Uses oral and written communication skills to effectively convey ideas in a clear, positive manner.
• Maintains established CHRISTUS Health policies, procedures, objectives, quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control.
• Implements job responsibilities in a manner consistent with the CHRISTUS Mission and Code of Ethics.Requirements:Education/Skills
  • Graduate from an accredited school of practical nursing or vocational nursing.Experience
    • Previous medical office experience preferred.Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications
      • Valid state license to practice nursing.
      • Current BLS certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross.
