Job Summary: Experienced NICU Nurse Required
Seeking a skilled and compassionate NICU nurse to provide high-quality patient care and contribute to a dynamic healthcare team.

Job Description
The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in nursing, with a focus on neonatal care. They will be responsible for delivering exceptional patient care, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams, and maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities


  • Provide individualized patient care, utilizing the nursing process to assess, diagnose, plan, and evaluate patient needs
  • Develop and implement effective care plans, taking into account patient preferences and cultural backgrounds
  • Administer medications and treatments, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness
  • Document patient history, symptoms, medication, and care given
  • Assess learning needs and provide education to patients, family members, and caregivers

    • Uses critical thinking skills to assess patient needs and develop effective care plans
    • Communicates findings to healthcare team members and documents patient progress
    • Implements patient care and therapeutic procedures, monitoring and documenting patient response

      Standard II: Patient Throughput & Patient Flow Process

      • Anticipates and plans for admission, discharge, and transfer needs to facilitate patient flow
      • Utilizes communication systems and tools to facilitate the discharge process
      • Coaches others on tools and techniques for checking, cross-checking, and validating orders


        Standard III: Unit Operations

        • Plans, directs, and evaluates nursing care and functions in a particular nursing unit
        • Demonstrates good stewardship in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies
        • Assesses departmental staffing needs and actively participates in resourcing efforts


          Standard IV: Safe Practice/Quality Care/Regulations

          • Incorporates patient safety practices and guidelines to promote a safe environment
          • Demonstrates accountability for nursing research and quality improvement activities
          • Provides evidence-based nursing care and communicates patient information effectively

            Clinical Policies and Standards

            • Follows specific standards and associated clinical procedures
            • Analyzes policy and standards documentation and ensures organizational compliance
            • Provides feedback for improvement of procedures and assists in their development


              Health Information Documentation

              • Shares experiences with maintaining paper and electronic patient documentation
              • Walks through the steps and procedures for receiving, validating, and updating patient records
              • Describes the flow of information between various stations or units


                Medical Equipment

                • Describes experience with basic medical equipment used in the unit or facility
                • Uses standard diagnostic tools and techniques to resolve common equipment problems
                • Ensures that all equipment and related supplies are in proper working order prior to use


                  Medical Order Processing

                  • Shares experiences with processing medical orders for one or more groups of patients or conditions
                  • Describes functions and features of the system used to enter, validate, and update medical orders
                  • Discusses common errors, their sources, and procedures for correcting


                    Patient Chart Reading and Interpretation

                    • Describes experiences in reading and interpreting patient charts for patients on the unit and under their care
                    • Reviews patients' charts for completion and accuracy, identifying and alerting to mistakes or omissions
                    • Recognizes unexpected readings and alerts nursing or medical staff


                      Patient Safety

                      • Shares experiences with ensuring safety for one or more patient groups or settings
                      • Explains key features of safety guidelines and procedures for those groups and settings
                      • Recognizes and addresses physiological and psychological signs of problems


                        Requirements

                        • 1 year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred
                        • Perinatal RN Residency or recently practicing in a Perinatal Setting is preferred
                        • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, preferred
                        • RN License in state of employment or compact
                        • BLS required
                        • Current STABLE certification from one of the following courses: Participant, Lead Instructor, or Support Instructor
                        • Current NRP certification


                          Work Schedule
                          6AM - 6PM 12 HR Shift

                          Work Type
                          Per Diem As Needed
