Job Description:
This job performs all functions related to the collection of
human blood, aphaeresis donors, component preparation, and
hemotherapy. Performs quality control of solutions and equipment
and is responsible for quality assessment audits, chart reviews and
QA reports. Instructs students and new personnel, performs related
administrative duties, and maintains donor/patient confidentiality.
Assumes team leader responsibilities of overseeing fixed site or
mobile collection functions as needed. Oversees donor reaction care
by all staff, handles emergent reaction care, and insures all donor
reaction documentation/follow-up is completed.To perform this job

NursingWork ExperienceRequired - 2 years of aphaeresis or other
relevant Laboratory experienceExperience evaluating prospective
donors/patients and performing blood pressure, temperature, pulse,
hemoglobin and hematocrit determinations according to Standard
Operating Procedures (SOP)CertificationsRequired - Current
Registered Nurse License in the state of practiceBasic Life Support
(BLS) from the American Heart AssociationKnowledge Skills and
Abilities (KSAs)Must have computer skills and dexterity required
for data entry and retrieval of information.Effective verbal and
written communication skills and the ability to present information
clearly and professionally.Must be proficient with Windows-style
applications, various software packages specific to role and
keyboard.Strong interpersonal skills.Basic knowledge of anatomy and
physiology, geology, chemistry, mathematics, Ability to demonstrate
punctuality, flexibility, and willingness to work more than eight
(8) hours at one time.Ability to remain alert and react
spontaneously to any emergency situation during the course of

incumbent works in a patient care area; works in an area where
patients enter; works directly with patients; and/or works with
specimens that could contain diseases. There may be an occupational
risk for exposure to all communicable diseases.Because the
incumbent works within a healthcare setting, there may be
occupational risk for exposure to hazardous medications or
hazardous waste within the environment through receipt, transport,
storage, preparation, dispensing, administration, cleaning and/or
disposal of contaminated waste. The risk level of exposure may
