Faculty position employed by the University of Texas at Tyler
School of Medicine, practicing in UT Health East Texas facilities.
University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine is seeking an
enthusiastic and highly motivated physician to join our leadership
team as the Associate Program Director (APD) for Outpatient
Medicine within the UT Tyler Internal Medicine Residency Program.
This position is ideal for a clinician-educator committed to
shaping the future of our outpatient internal medicine training at
UT Health Tyler. The APD will work closely with the Program
Director, faculty, and residents to oversee the continued
development of our outpatient curriculum and to ensure excellence
in resident education and patient care. Key Responsibilities:
Outpatient Curriculum: · Oversee a robust and innovative outpatient
curriculum in line with Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical
Education (ACGME) requirements. · Develop educational materials and
teaching strategies to enhance resident understanding of primary
care, chronic disease management, preventive medicine, and
transitions of care. · Promote interdisciplinary collaboration by
fostering partnerships with nursing, pharmacy, behavioral health,
and other healthcare professionals in the outpatient setting.
Resident Supervision and Teaching: · Provide direct clinical
supervision and mentorship to residents in the outpatient clinic. ·
Develop educational programming residents, including didactic
lectures and case-based discussions focused on outpatient internal
medicine. · Serve as a role model for residents, demonstrating
excellence in patient care, professionalism, and work-life balance.
Program Leadership and Administration: · Collaborate with the
Program Director and other associate program directors to ensure
integration of the outpatient and inpatient components of the
residency program. · Participate in residency program leadership
meetings, contributing to the overall strategic planning and
development of the residency. · Assist in ensuring compliance with
ACGME guidelines, including managing evaluations, competency
assessments, and remediation plans for residents. · Support the
development and implementation of policies and procedures related
to resident education. Quality Improvement and Scholarly Activity:
· Oversee quality improvement initiatives within the outpatient
clinic, encouraging resident participation in projects aimed at
enhancing patient outcomes and care delivery. Resident Wellness and
Professional Development: · Assist in the development of
individualized learning plans for residents to ensure their
professional growth and achievement of career goals.
Qualifications: · Education: MD or DO degree from an accredited
institution; board certification in Internal Medicine. ·
Experience: A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience in
outpatient internal medicine, with a strong background in medical
education · Leadership Skills: Demonstrated leadership abilities
with experience in administration, quality improvement, and/or
program development. · Communication: Excellent communication,
interpersonal, and organizational skills, with the ability to work
effectively with residents, faculty, and staff. · Commitment: A
passion for resident education, a collaborative leadership style,
and a commitment to academic excellence and patient-centered care.
Preferred Qualifications: · Experience in working with
ACGME-accredited residency programs. · Expertise in outpatient care
models, population health, or chronic disease management. ·
Experience in quality improvement or practice transformation
