Faculty position employed by the University of Texas at Tyler
School of Medicine, practicing in UT Health East Texas facilities.
The UT Health Science Center at Tyler is searching for a
Board-Certified fellowship-trained Primary Care Sports Medicine
Physician to serve as Program Director (PD) for its established
Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship Program, which welcomed its
first two fellows in 2022. Experience in graduate medical education
is required. Our integrated Sports Medicine multi-disciplinary team
of sports medicine physicians, orthopedic surgeons, sports
dietician, sports physical therapist, and athletic trainers uses
state-of-the-art techniques, advanced procedures, and innovative
therapies to design treatment plans that are customized to our
patients’ specific needs and address the full continuum of care. A
successful physician in this position will have a
multi-disciplinary approach to providing care, with interest in
multi-disciplinary human performance research. Practice
Information: PD role will be a hybrid position with a mix of direct
patient care, precepting medical learners, teaching and
administrative support for the fellowship program. The Program
Director (PD) works closely alongside the core faculty to provide a
stable, thriving training environment for our fellows and
residents. PD will prepare and deliver lectures for weekly
fellowship didactics and periodically for other residency programs.
PD will participate in regular scholarly activities. Physician will
supervise, teach and mentor fellows, residents and medical students
in outpatient clinic, training room clinic and sideline event
coverage. Physician will provide athletic team coverage to
University of Texas at Tyler sanctioned sports, with potential to
cover high school sports and other community events. Physician will
have ready access to diagnostic equipment and dedicated support
staff including medical assistants, athletic trainers, and physical
therapists. EMR System: Epic Requirements: Experience in graduate
medical education is required. Minimum of one-year fellowship in
primary care sports medicine Board Certified in primary specialty
(Family Medicine, PM&R, Internal Medicine). Board Certified/
Board Eligible in Primary Care Sports Medicine Musculoskeletal
ultrasound experience/training required Unrestricted Texas MD or DO
license or the ability to obtain an unrestricted license ACGME

Medicine: The University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine is
the first medical school in East Texas and the seventh in The
University of Texas System. Its mission is to train future
