Faculty position employed by the University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine, practicing in UT Health East Texas facilities. The University of Texas at Tyler School of Medicine is seeking an experienced and dynamic Physician Assistant (PA) Program Director to help establish and lead a new PA Masters Program, anticipated to begin in Summer 2027. The Program Director will play a pivotal role in shaping and growing this innovative program, working closely with the School of Medicine leadership and university administration. This is a unique opportunity to join a collaborative and forward-thinking institution with full support from both the School of Medicine and the university. Responsibilities: Develop, implement, and oversee all aspects of the PA Masters Program. Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory requirements. Recruit, manage, and mentor PA faculty and staff. Design curriculum and educational strategies in collaboration with faculty and staff. Provide leadership and vision to create a robust and sustainable program. Report directly to the Associate Dean of Health Professional Education within the School of Medicine. Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience as a practicing Physician Assistant. At least 3 years of experience in PA education, including leadership roles. Proven ability to develop, implement, and manage academic programs. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and university administration. Its mission is to train future healthcare professionals to embrace responsibility for the unique needs of rural and hard-to-reach communities and populations, particularly those in East Texas. The school offers a robust Graduate Medical Education program, with 20 residency and fellowship training programs, enabling graduates to gain specialized skills in areas such as family medicine, internal medicine, neurology, psychiatry, surgery, and anesthesia. Additionally, UT Tyler’s Master of Biotechnology program provides students with an interdisciplinary curriculum that emphasizes medical research and biotechnology innovation, preparing them for careers in medical research, diagnostics and therapeutic development. Construction is currently underway on a five-story, 248,000-square-foot Medical Education Building (MEB) in Tyler’s Midtown District. Connected by a skybridge to UTHealth Tyler, the MEB will support interdisciplinary education for medical students and resident training. It will also aid as part of a medical education program expansion throughout the UT Health East Texas Health System. The building is scheduled for completion in fall of 2025.
