Pay: $2,646 to $2,726 per week Shift Information: Days - 5 days x 8 hours Start Date: 3/2/2026 About the Position Travel RN – First Assist (RNFA) Location: Longview, TX 75601 Assignment Type: Travel / Full-Time Schedule: Monday–Friday | 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM Credentialing: Direct credentialing with facility ( up to 90 days ) Position Summary The RN First Assist (RNFA) is a perioperative Registered Nurse who works collaboratively with the surgeon and surgical team to support optimal patient outcomes. The RNFA practices in an expanded intraoperative role under the direction of the surgeon and does not concurrently function as the scrub nurse while first assisting. Required Experience CVOR and EVH experience – REQUIRED Minimum 5 years of Operating Room experience Must be comfortable circulating, scrubbing, and first assist roles Previous CV team OR experience required Key Responsibilities Assist the surgeon intraoperatively, including exposure, tissue handling, hemostasis, and suturing Perform comprehensive patient assessments, reassessments, and documentation Maintain sterile field and adhere to aseptic technique Prepare, operate, and troubleshoot surgical equipment Perform and document sponge, sharps, and instrument counts Administer medications per policy Ensure safe patient positioning and environmental controls Participate in Universal Protocol/Time-Out procedures Handle specimens accurately and per policy Support inventory management and surgical scheduling needs Maintain patient and staff safety with high-risk equipment Collaborate effectively with surgeons, anesthesia, and perioperative staff Participate in patient, family, and staff education as appropriate Education & Certifications (Required) Completion of an RNFA program meeting AORN standards and accepted by CCI Current RN License (Texas or Compact) BLS (AHA only) ACLS (AHA only) CNOR – Perioperative Nursing Certification Work Details Schedule: Monday–Friday, 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM No call or weekends specified Full-Time Travel Assignment TB_HC ZR
