Job Description:
Job Description Job Description Under general supervision,
performs a variety of diagnostic ultrasound procedures following
established policies and protocols. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs full range of diagnostic ultrasound procedures that
require operation of real-time and portable equipment as well as
multiple imaging modalities on patients of all ages. Positions
patients appropriately for test being performed following
established protocols. Explains procedures and positioning to
patients. Monitors and maintains essential patient care and safety
during procedures; applies safety principles as identified by
established policy. Selects and operates equipment; selects proper
technical factors on an individual basis. Discerns the correct
examination to be performed by a combination of exam ordered,
clinical history, and patient condition. Provides test results to
patient’s physician and other appropriate healthcare providers.
Performs daily quality control of equipment and other quality
assurance/quality control activities as required. Maintains
department statistics and records. Maintains inventory of necessary
supplies. Prepares room for diagnostic procedures. Participates in
continuing education to continually improve skills and abilities
and stay abreast of current technologies/practices. Ensures
compliance with legal issue including but not limited to patient
confidentiality and risk management; ensures compliance with JCAHO,
federal, state, and local regulations. Exhibits a high degree of
courtesy, tact, and poise when interacting with patients, families,
and other healthcare professionals. Adjusts to fluctuating peaks in
patient flow, acuity, and other operational demands while
maintaining quality. Performs other related duties as assigned by
management. QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an accredited medical
diagnostic sonography program. Registration by ARDMS or ARRT One to
two years related experience or equivalent. Current CPR
Certification. Ability to understand and adhere to established
policies, procedures, and protocols. Commitment to excellence and

Specialized equipment, machines, or vehicles used Special
Requirements Requires sitting, standing and walking for extensive
periods of time. Requires working under stressful conditions or
working irregular hours. Requires frequent exposure to communicable
diseases, body fluids, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and
other conditions common to a clinic environment. The employee
frequently is required to reach with hands and arms. Specific
vision abilities required by this job include close vision,
distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception,
and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to work with a moderate
noise level in the work environment is required. Ability to handle
