Job Description:
Are you a passionate physician leader looking to make a
meaningful impact on the lives of Veterans? VISN 16, which serves
the South-Central region of the United States, is seeking a dynamic
and collaborative physician to serve as the Specialty Care
Integrated Clinical Communities (ICC) Lead. In this role, you?ll
partner with the VISN 16 Chief Medical Officer and Deputy Chief
Medical Officer to enhance specialty care services, advance medical
education, and foster innovation in research across the region. Why
This Role Matters VISN 16 is one of the largest VA networks,
serving Veterans across Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Louisiana,
Missouri, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Texas. With 74 health care
facilities, including 9 VA medical centers, 27 primary care
community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs), 24 multi-specialty
CBOCs, 12 outpatient service facilities, and 2 residential care
sites, this network delivers high-quality care to those who served
our country. Collectively, VISN 16 facilities have created 15
innovations and adopted over 100 innovations, reflecting a culture
of forward-thinking excellence. As the Specialty Care ICC Lead,
you?ll play a pivotal role in enhancing specialty care across this
diverse and innovative network, ensuring Veterans receive the
high-quality, patient-centered care they deserve. What You?ll Do
Collaborate with facility leadership to improve the quality and
consistency of specialty care services. Assist in developing and
refining VISN 16 clinical protocols, policies, guidelines, and
directives. Lead initiatives that enhance outcomes, safety, and the
overall patient experience. Integrate research and education into
clinical practices to foster innovation. Tour of Duty: Monday ?
Friday 8:00 AM ? 4:30 PM On-site work at one of the VISN 16
locations: Fayetteville, AR, Little Rock, AR, Alexandria, LA, New
Orleans, LA, Shreveport, LA, Biloxi, MS, Jackson, MS, Ridgeland,
MS, or Houston, TX. Preferred Experience We?re seeking a leader who
brings: Strong managerial and organizational skills to guide teams
and drive change. Extensive clinical knowledge in specialty care
and related programs to inform decisions. Board certification in
internal medicine or a subspecialty of internal medicine (highly
encouraged). Basic Requirements U.S. citizenship (Non-U.S. citizens
may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified
citizens in accordance with VA Policy). A Doctor of Medicine or
equivalent degree from an accredited program in medicine or
osteopathic medicine. A current, full, and unrestricted medical
license from any U.S. state or territory Completion of residency
training accredited by the ACGME or equivalent. This is your chance

VA employees are covered by the Federal Employees Retirement System
(FERS). FERS is a three-tiered retirement plan composed of 1)
Social Security benefits, 2) FERS-RAE basic benefits (pension), and
3) Thrift Savings Plan (TSP) which is a 401K-type plan How is the
pension funded? VA employees automatically contribute 4.4% of their
salary each pay period and the VA contributes 12.2% of the
employee?s salary each pay period for a total annual contribution
percentage equal to 16.6% of the employee?s salary Similar to the
401(k) savings plans widely available in the private sector, the
TSP allows employees to tax defer a portion of their income each
year, subject to the requirements of the Internal Revenue Service.
For calendar year 2020, employees under the age of 50 may
contribute up to $19,500, while those over age 50 are eligible to
make catch-up contributions that allow them to defer up to $25,500.
The Federal Government also provides an automatic basic
contribution (1% of salary) and up to 4% of salary in matching
contributions, depending on the amount of the employee contribution
For retired military personnel, these benefits are in addition to
full monthly retirement pay or pension In addition to FERS, VA
provides health care insurance coverage for retired personnel
Disability Retirement Employees are vested in a federal pension
after only 5 years service
