Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from a School of Social Work
accredited by the Council on Social Work Education. Prefer
experience in a medical setting. Must be Licensed through the State
of Texas. Maintain ongoing continuing education units.
Knowledge of Services provided through the different agencies in
the community, eligibility criteria for Medicare and Medicaid, and
procedures for Nursing Home placement. Skilled in good oral and
written communication skills. Ability to read and interpret
standards for the different agencies and sympathetically deal with
daily crisis situations.
The Social Worker will assist patients, families, and
significant others in coping with the psycho social aspects of
illness and its treatment. A psycho social assessment will evaluate
social, psycho social, emotional, financial, and environmental
needs of patients. This position works closely with Utilization
Review staff for discharge planning and psycho social needs of
