Role Summary

The Mill-wide Training Development Manager is responsible for improving the productivity of the organization's employees. This role works collaboratively with Mill employees and other subject matter experts to assess company-wide developmental needs to identify & implement effective training solutions that prepares employees for future growth & success The Mill-wide Training Development Manager searches, creatively designs and implements effective methods to educate, enhance performance and recognize performance.



Job Accountabilities

  • Conducts training and development needs assessment and establishes both short- term and long-term learning and training objectives for Mill
  • Design and implement training programs for all areas of the Mill which increases the technical competency of the manufacturing employees
  • Ensure learning and training objectives are in alignment with organization goals, objectives, and initiatives.
  • Develops high-impact strategies for integrating technology into training programs, conducting training sessions via multiple delivery methods such as in-class room, web-based, e-learning, contractual third party, off-site training, etc.
  • Utilizes knowledge of adult learning theory, various learning styles, and effective information design principles to maximize learner success and ensure overall effectiveness of training
  • Develops course content and supporting materials to meet the established learning and training objectives.
  • Maintains, and updates training content and materials, making necessary changes to improve training based upon training needs analysis, training outcomes, input from training class and leadership feedback
  • Evaluates training program effectiveness through analysis of content, presentation, and post examination of participants.
  • Maintains statistics and prepares reports on training programs and uses data to identify and implement training process improvements
  • Prepare and manage the training strategy, goals and budget
  • Researches new training techniques and implements enhancements to existing programs that meet the companys objectives
  • Educates and coaches managers, supervisors and others involved in employee development efforts on effective teaching and mentoring techniques
  • Manages a recordkeeping system that tracks employee training participation & progress
  • Stay current on technology and process trends as well as industry benchmarks in order to identify and implement best practices
  • Develop, implement, and support the effective application of best practices as Standard Work, Standard Operating Conditions and Standard Operating Procedures
  • Leverage the flexibility of Lean, Six Sigma and Performance Improvement tools to enhance productivity
  • Other duties as assigned






Required Characteristics

  • Bachelors Degree in organizational development, engineer or business discipline
  • Ten (10) years of progressive and practical paper making experience including five (5) years in progressive leadership roles
  • Proven leadership skills in a fast-paced work environment
  • Excellent written, oral, interpersonal, and presentation skills to effectively coach, motivate and communicate with all levels of the organization
  • Strong understanding and demonstrated experience in continuous improvement, operational excellence, lean principals, statistics and data analysis
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities with deadlines in a fast paced and dynamic environment
  • Strong facilitation skills in a group setting and virtual environment.
  • Ability to dynamically engage, train, and coach various audiences at all levels of the organization
  • Proven track record for driving alignment and communication cross-functionally within a company
  • Knowledge/experience with 5-S, Six Sigma or Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through influence rather than authority
  • Solid organization skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment background screening and drug screen




Desired Characteristics

  • Masters degree in organizational development, engineer or business discipline
  • Black belt in Six Sigma principles
  • Five (5) years of continuous improvement experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficient with learning management systems (LMS) and curriculum/course development tools and software
  • Experienced in managing in an union environment
  • OSHA 10 or 30 hour certification
